Synopsis:

Episode one: Simao killed four women, among them his own daughter and wife. In spite of that, he became the hero of his street. The law is the enemy of Portuguese people, and thee enemy of their enemy is their friend. Episode two: in this burlesque representative of the law tries to determine the cause-and-effect chain that led to the crime, but finds that she is faced with an impossible task: in an unjust society nobody is just and everybody is at fault for something. However, there are not enough cells for the culprits. In the third episode the main character is the Maltese dog Dixie, who is the only character who does not feel loneliness and anger but rather only honest love and affection for his owners. The most impressive character from Gomes’ bestiary reminds us of Bresson’s donkey Balthazar; here the dog is the innocent witness of a violent and corrupted world in which each person is guilty of something.
