Mystery of OM produkcija - film selection
In mid-1970’s the experimental scene in Yugoslavia was very lively. Such films were presented through a network of fifteen, officially amateur but in fact alternative and avant-garde film festivals. At the same time, there emerged a mysterious Slovenian art collective called OM produkcija. At first they were active in Ljubljana and then moved to Koper. In the next several years, they created some very innovative and sometimes crazily brave films shot on 8 and 16mm film by 41. Their authors were 41 members of the collective (including Ismailhači Cankar, Bettina Zonenšajn, Veronique Gartenzwergel, Janez pl. Laibacher, Florjan Gorjan, Emannuel Gott-Art...) who raided the aforementioned festivals and became part of domestic experimental film history. All films share these elements: play with the possibilities of human perception, tendency to psychedelic and magical rituals as well as their technically demanding presentation as in many cases they demanded double, triple as well as quadruple screenings that contain elements of art performance. The period of oblivion and inactivity of OM produkcija ended in 2007 with the euphorically prepared retrospective at the Rotterdam Film Festival, after which many similar presentations were organized throughout Europe. This screening in Tuškanac is the first bigger presentation of OM produkcija’s work in Croatia and its secrets will be reveal by its curator and guardian of the OM archive Slobodan Valentinčič.
Program host is Ivan Ramljak.
