Reha Erdem

 

Director
Erdem (born in 1960) is a Turkish director and screenwriter. He gave up his studies in history in his home country and in 1983 moved to Paris and earned a degree in film studies. He made his first feature film, A ay (Oh Moon), in 1988 in French-Turkish co-production. Afterwards, he made the drama Kaç para kaç (A Run For Money, 1999), which was the Turkish representative for Oscar in the category Best Foreign Film, and the comedy Korkuyorum Anne (Mommy, I'm Scared, 2004). His last film Bes vakit (Times and Winds, 2006) won the Golden Tulip and the FIPRESCI award at the International Film Festival in Istanbul in 2006. He has made many commercials and short films (Deniz Türküsü / Song of the Sea, 1995; Ekimde Hiçbir Kere / Anytime in October, 2006). In the National Theatre in Istanbul in 1991, he directed Jean Genet’s drama Les bonnes.
