Joana Hadjithomas (Beirut, 1969) and Khalil Joreige (Beirut, 1969)


Hadjithomas and Joreige are a directing, screenwriting and producing couple who have been making feature and documentary films as well as art installations for many years. In , they wrote the screenplay for and directed their first feature film Al bayt al zahr (Autour de la maison rose). They have also directed two documentaries Khiam (2000) and El film al mafkoud (2003). In 2003, they returned to fiction and directed the short film Ramad, and afterwards the feature film A Perfect Day (2005). Both of them work as professors at the University of Beirut: Joana teaches screenwriting and Khalil esthetics and experimental video.

Synopsis:

This film follows one day in the life of Malek, a young man who suffers from a sleep disorder. Like his mother, Malek is coping with the loss of love. The two of them go to sign papers that will officially confirm the death of his father, who has been missing for fifteen years following a war. Malek tries to find Zeine, his girlfriend who left him.
