Marcos Jorge

Director
Jorge is a Brazilian director and screenwriter who graduated with a journalism degree in 1988. Afterwards he studied screenwriting and directing at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Milan. He spent several years in Italy working as an assistant director and editor of feature films and TV documentaries. Starting in 1995 he became a professional director and screenwriter. In 2001, he returned to Brazil and founded the Zencrane Filmes production house. He made the short films O Encontro (2002) and Infinitamente Maio (2003) as well as the feature documentary O Atelię de Luzia - Arte Rupestre no Brasil (2004). He was a co-screenwriter and co-director of the feature film Corpos celestes (2006), after which he made his directing feature film debut Estômago: A Gastronomic Story (2007).

Synopsis:

Nonato is a prisoner respected by all other inmates because of his great talent for cooking. The story flashes back to the past and we learn how Nonato was forced to wash the dishes in a restaurant because he had no money to pay for dinner. He continues to work there and his culinary talent soon makes him popular.
