Nikola Babić

He graduated from the University of Philosophy in Zagreb. Starting in 1964 he worked as an assistant director. He made his directing debut with the short documentary Nova Jugoslavija. His documentaries attracted attention - Mur bur (1969), which won the Silver Medal and Kekec award in Belgrade as well as the Silver medal in Venice. Afterwards he made a series of documentaries that deal with human nature and games. In 1977 he made the feature film Ludi dani that won an award in Pula for the best debut. He also won the award Vladimir Nazor (1971). In 1983 he made a criminal drama with elements of soft porn, Medeni mjesec.

Synopsis:

A few friends who work abroad as guest workers return home to Dalmatinska Zagora for the holidays. They sit in a local pub and brag about their wealth. Šimun called Klempo is the only one who stayed poor and has nothing to say. In a game of cards he confronts Jure and this causes a strange duel.

Synopsis:

Kroz prikaz Albina Babića Bina, sudionika NOB-a koji je bio model spomeniku partizanskim mornarima u Senju i živi u siromaštvu, autor daje oštru kritiku komunističkog sustava i njegove kičaste ikonografije. Duhoviti stilizirani prizori koji opisuju Binovu ekscentričnost vrhunac imaju u prizoru kojim se ostvaruje Binov san: provozati se gradom u limuzini u bijeloj odori dok mu građani pliješću. Ponajviše radi ovog prizora, u kojem Bino sliči na Tita, film je bunkeriran...
