He graduated from the University of Philosophy in Zagreb. Starting in 1964 he worked as an assistant director. He made his directing debut with the short documentary Nova Jugoslavija. His documentaries attracted attention - Mur bur (1969), which won the Silver Medal and Kekec award in Belgrade as well as the Silver medal in Venice. Afterwards he made a series of documentaries that deal with human nature and games. In 1977 he made the feature film Ludi dani that won an award in Pula for the best debut. He also won the award Vladimir Nazor (1971). In 1983 he made a criminal drama with elements of soft porn, Medeni mjesec.
