Director

Trapero is a producer, director, screenwriter and editor from Argentina. He wrote and directed two short films, Mocoso malcriado (1993) and Negocios (1995), before directing his feature film debut Crane World (Mundo grúa, 1999). It is a portrayal of a migrant worker’s life and it was well received. After the documentary Naikor, la estación de servicio (2001), he directed his second feature film El bonaerense (2002), which was shown in Cannes. It deals with the problem of corruption within the police, and portrayals of the problems of modern society and ordinary lives of common people became his signature topics. In that same year he established his own production company Matanza Cine in Buenos Aires that produced his won as well as other directors’ films. He directed the family comedy Rolling Family (Familia rodante, 2004), drama Born and Bred (2006) and Lion's Den (Leonera, 2008) in which he analyzed motherhood in prisons. His sixth feature film, crime drama Carancho (2010), was chosen as the Argentinian candidate for an Oscar in the category Best Foreign Film. In 2012, he directed his drama White elephant (Elefante blanco) and his last film is the crime drama The Clan (El Clan, 2015), based on real events.

Synopsis:

Every year more than eight thousand people die in traffic accidents in Argentina. Nevertheless, this tragedy brings profit to some people. Sosa is one of them. He is a lawyer who spends most of his time in hospitals looking for new clients for insurance lawsuits. One day he meets Luján, a doctor who has just arrived to Buenos Aires. She is young, an idealist devoted to saving human lives, but falls in love with Sosa despite his opportunistic nature.

Sve započinje pozivom koji prima osamdesetočetverogodišnja baka Emilia u predgrađu Buenos Airesa: sestra je poziva u Misiones, mjesto i njezina rođenja, da bude počasna gošća na vjenčanju sestrine kćeri. Synopsis:

Sedamdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, Rulo je bio basist poznate rock grupe. U devedesetim godinama on je razvedeni pedesetogodišnji radnik u Buenos Airesu. Živi s majkom i sinom koji je glazbenik te želi poći očevim stopama i osnovati bend. Rulo pak ostaje bez posla i prihvaća posao operatera bagera u udaljenoj Patagoniji. Synopsis:

Tridesetodvogodišnji Zapa živi laganim tempom u provinciji gdje radi kao bravar. Šef Polaco ga pošalje da pomogne klijentu otvoriti sef, nakon čega se dogodi pljačka. Zapu osumnjiče i uhite. Pomogne mu njegov ujak Ismael, umirovljeni policajac koji ga izvlači iz zatvora i pronalazi mu posao u policijskoj postaji u Buenos Airesu.
