Following the success of the comedy, King of the Belgians (ZFF 2016), directing duo Jessica Woodworth and Peter Brosens bring us a new instalment of the title hero’s (mis)adventures, this time in a film in Croatian co-production. After suffering a gunshot wound to the ear during an incident in Sarajevo, the Belgian king wakes up on Brijuni, once Tito’s famous summer residence. As he tries to escape the island, an emissary arrives informing him that he has been crowned the first emperor of nationalist New Europa. The film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and was shot entirely in Croatia.
