Synopsis:
During the battle on the river Sutjeska in WW II, a partisan squad is surrounded by the German forces. While the soldiers are trying to break through the enemy ring, relationships between them become tense and there are conflicts. The commissar dies and others blame the commandant for their situation. Moreover, the only surviving woman is in labor. Only a few of the men manage to break through, taking the child with them.
