(Krótki film o zabijaniu, Poland, 1988)
Directed by: Krzysztof Kieślowski
PHOTOGRAPHY: Sławomir Idziak
Synopsis:
Kieślowski won the jury’s award in Cannes in 1988 for this dark and violent film. It deals with the problems of murder and the (in)justice of the death penalty through the story of the twenty-year-old Jacek. He is a drifter with no perspective who, without an apparent motive, brutally kills an anonymous taxi driver. He is caught quickly and is sentenced to death. Just before the death sentence is carried out, we discover the reason for Jacek’s behavior.
