Synopsis:
Once a respected police detective from Yokohama, Mikami works on the construction of a dam in north Japan. One day he gets a visit from Tsuchiya, a police inspector who suspects that Mikami’s former partner, Ishizuka, got rich illegally. Even though he does not want to return to Yokohama and his old life, Mikami changes his mind when he finds out that Ishizuka married his former love interest.

Violent Cop

Synopsis:
Takeshi Kitano’s directing debut, in which he plays an old-school cop. The only police method that Azuma respects is pure violence. Investigating the death of a drug dealer with his younger colleague Kikuchi, he finds out that a policeman is involved. Soon, he is found dead and Azuma sets off in search of the murderer. The investigation brings him to Kiyohiro, a fierce criminal who likes violence as much as Azuma himself.

Akitsu Hot Springs

Synopsis:
Shusaku is a student who came to the Akitsu hot springs to die. He suffers from a highly dangerous form of tuberculosis, and in fact he has lost all will to live. Shinko, whose mother owns the hot springs, slowly returns him to life with her warmth, love and will to live. They fall in love but after finding out that Japan has lost WW II, they attempt suicide together.

Synopsis:
According to a village tradition that emerged due to a lack of food, every person who turns seventy must go to Narayama Mountain to die. The time is getting near for Orin, who has just turned sixty nine. Before taking her final journey she tries to ensure a good future for her sons. Soon a messenger arrives from the neighboring village who claims that he has found a suitable wife for one of the sons. The film won the Golden Palm in Cannes in 1983.

Synopsis:

At first she refuses, but after her drummer bails out on the band in residence, she hires Shoichi, who proves to be a good musician. With Miyaki’s help he becomes a great drummer destined for fame - but what he really wants is his mother’s approval.

Synopsis:
Masaki, an unsuccessful baseball player and distracted gas station attendant, enrages his boss, a yakuza. Masaki has no choice but to go to Okinawa with his friend to get some guns and take his revenge. There they find an even crazier yakuza who is planning a revenge of his own.
