Synopsis:

This is a contemporary interpretation of the novel Porodica Malavoglia by Verga, planned as the first part of a trilogy (due to its commercial failure the other two parts were never made). The Earth Trembles is the story of exploited fishermen from Sicily who are forced to migrate to richer northern Italy. The Mill on the Po

Synopsis:

The story takes place in the late 19th century in the valley of the river Po and begins with the engagement party of Berta, the daughter of Scacerni the miller. Marriage to her fiancée, farmer Orbino Verginesi, is hampered by social unrest caused by high taxes and the landowners’ unfair treatment of farmers. Suddenly poor, Berta has to cancel the wedding and start working as a maid.

Chronicle of Poor Lovers

The story takes place in 1925 Florence. We follow the influence of the changing political climate on the lives of several people from the poor part of the city. He accidentally meets Milena, with whom he has an affair after the fascists beat her husband. Other characters include the cynical prostitute Elisa and the lonely Gesuina.
