Synopsis:

Based on a theatre play, the film focuses on the attempt of King Henry II to choose his heir. On Christmas day in 1138, he invites his wife, Queen Eleanor, who has been imprisoned for plotting, their three sons, Richard, Geoffrey and John, French prince Philip II and his sister, princess Alais who is also Henry's mistress. While they're all trying to get to the throne, Henry finds it difficult to decide between their positive and negative characteristics in order to make a good choice.
