Cappucio was born in Latina, Italy in 1961. From 1983 to 1985, he studied at the
Centro sperimentale di cinematografia in Rome where he graduated in screenwriting. He was assistant director to Fellini while he directed the film
Ginger and Fred, and in 1990, he dedicated his documentary,
Verso la luna con Fellini, to his teacher from Rimini. In 1995, his short film,
Il caricatore, won an award at the festival in Locarno 1995. Two years later the feature film with the same title, which Capuccio made together with Gaudioso and i Nunziato, won the
Ciak d’Oro as the best debut.
