Enrique Urbizu

Urbizu is a Spanish director and screenwriter who graduated in information science. In 1988, he directed his first film Tu novia está loca (Your Girlfriend is Crazy, 1988), followed by thriller Todo por la pasta (Anything for Bread, 1990), comedies Cómo ser infeliz y disfrutarlo (How to Be Miserable and Enjoy It, 1993) and Cuernos de mujer (Infidelity, 1995)as well as crime drama Cachito (1995). He is one of the co-screenwriters of Roman Polanski’s film The Ninth Gate. He achieved great success with thriller La caja 507 (Box 507, 2002), while drama La vida mancha (Life Marks, 2003) was less well received. He then directed horror Películas para no dormir: Adivina quién soy (2006.) for television. His next screen film No habrá paz para los malvados (No Rest for the Wicked, 2011) received Spanish film awards Goya for the best director and original script.

Synopsis:

Modesto, an honest and hardworking man, manages the local branch of a bank in Costa del Sol. Robbers break in the bank and leave Modesto locked in the room with the safes. Safe number 507 is one of them. Its contents reveal to Modesto that his daughter’s death, which happened a few years ago, was not an accident. In 2003, this film won an award at the Festival of Police Films in Cognac, as well as in Philadelphia where it was acclaimed as being the best police film.
