Gabriele Muccino

Director, screenwriter and producer. He bandied his studies of literature and became a director. He enrolled to the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and began his film career directing short feature films in mid-1990’s. His first feature film is the comedy Ecco fatto (1998). Afterwards, he directed another more popular comedy Come te nessuno mai (1999) and the romantic drama The Last Kiss (L'ultimo bacio, 2001), which won several awards at international festivals and attracted attention outside of Italy. He directed another romantic drama Ricordati di me (2003), and three years later in Hollywood he directed the biographical drama The Pursuit of Happiness (2006) starring Will Smith who was nominated for an Oscar for his role. Muccino and Smith collaborated again in the romantic comedy Seven Pounds (2008). He returned to Italy to direct another romantic comedy Baciami ancora (2010), but it was not very successful. Back in Hollywood and starring several stars he directed Playing for Keeps (2012). His drama Fathers & Daughters (2015) starring Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried was somewshat less popular with the audience but received good reviews. His last film so far is L'estate addosso (2016) about a couple of young Italians on vacation in the US.
