Tavarelli is an Italian self-taught director and screenwriter. He started to direct his own films on Super8 and 16mm formats. In late 1970’s he began directing short feature films. His debut fill-length feature film was Portami via from 1994. He also directed the romantic drama Un amore (1999), crime drama This Is Not Paradise (Qui non è il paradiso, 2000) and the romantic drama Break Free (Liberi, 2003). He also directed several TV films and series and another feature film Don't Make Any Plans for Tonight (Non prendere impegni stasera, 2006) Drama Another South (Una storia sbagliata, 2014) is currently his last film.
