Pereira is a Spanish director, screenwriter and producer. He studied communication at the Madrid University and began his career as a screenwriter. He was assistant director to José Luis Garcíe Sánchez, Manuel Octavio Gómez, Fernando Colom and others. In the 1980s he worked as a television director. In 1991 he directed his first feature film
Salsa rosa (Pink Sauce). Afterwards he made comedies
Why Do They Call It Love When They Mean Sex? (żPor qué lo llaman amor cuando quieren decir sexo?, 1993),
All Men Are the Same (Todos los hombres sois iguales, 1994), the somewhat more popular
Mouth to Mouth (Boca a boca, 1995) starring Javier Bardem and
Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health (El amor perjudica seriamente la salud, 1996). With the thriller
Between Your Legs (Entre las piernas, 1999), starring Victoria Abril and Javier Bardem, he moved from the romantic comedy genre. However he soon returned to it with the international co-production
Off Key (2001) and his last two films

Reinas (Queens, 2005).
