Gothár is a Hungarian director and screenwriter. He began his career as assistant director on television. From 1971 to 1975, he studied film direction and soon afterwards began directing documentaries and TV dramas. He directed and wrote the screenplay for the film
Ajándék ez a nap (A Priceless Day, 1979), which won the Golden Lion in Venice the next year as the best debut film. His next film
