Director
Kang Je-kyu is a screenwriter, director and producer. He made his directing debut in 1996 with the love story with elements of phantasy Eunhaengnamoo chimdae (The Gingko Bed, 1996). His next film, action spy story Swiri (1999) became very popular. Afterwards he directed the drama about two brothers during the Korean War Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo (Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War, 2004), which won awards for best director and best film at the Asian-Pacific Film Festival in 2005. His next film Mai wei (My Way, 2011) was also a war drama but somewhat less successful. Afterwards, he directed the short film Min-ussi o-neun nal (Awaiting, 2014), a segment in the omnibus Beautiful 2014 (2014) and the romantic drama Jang-su Sahng-hoe (Salut d'amour, 2014), which is his last film at the time.

Synopsis:

The protagonists of the film are an older couple who unexpectedly find love at their older age. Stubborn and peevish seventy-year-old Sung-chil works at a local store. His difficult personality starts to change when he meets his new neighbor Geum-nim who has a flower shop. Even though her daughter Min-jung does not approve of their meetings they soon develop mutual sympathy. On the other hand, other neighbors want Sung-chil’s courting to succeed.
