Director
Konwicki is a polish screenwriter, writer and director. He began his film career with the film Ostatni dzien lata (The Last Day of Summer, 1958). Afterwards he directed Zaduszki (All Soul’s Day, 1962), Les Rideaux blancs - episode Matura (1965), Salto (Jump, 1965), Jak daleko stad, jak blizko (How Far, How Near, 1972), Dolina Issy (Issa Valley, 1982) and Lawa. Opowiesc o 'Dziadach' Adama Mickiewicza (Forefathers, 1989). He wrote screenplays for J. Kawalerowicz’s films (Matka Joanna od Aniolow, Faraon and Austeria).

Synopsis:

In the time between the two world wars, young Tomaszek spends his childhood in the valley of Issa on a rich farm on the border of Lithuania and Poland. Even though he is surrounded by idyllic nature and he keeps escaping to a fantasy world, the boy cannot help noticing changes in the valley which have arisen as a consequence of social unrest and political conflicts of the 1920s.
