Latifi (born in Teheran, 1962) began his film career as an animator and afterwards worked as an assistant director and make-up artist. He made his directing debut with the film Speed and followed by the comedy Eynak-e doodi (2000), the short feature drama Kurbani (2004), the horror Khabgah-e dokhtaran (2005) and the war drama The Third Day (Ruz-e-sevom 2007).
