Link is a German director who studied at the Film Academy in München, where she graduated with the film 
Sommertage (1990). With the film 
Beyond Silence (Jenseits der Stille, 1996) she earned an Oscar nomination in the category of Foreign Film, and won 
Bavarian Film Award, a silver 
German Film Award and a gold 
Guild Film Award. She also made 
Pünktchen und Anton (1999). In 2003, she won an Oscar in 2003 with her film 
Nowhere in Africa (Nirgendwo in Afrika, 2001).
