Lukas Moodysson

Moodysson is a Swedish director, screenwriter and writer. His full name is Karl Frederik Lukas Moodysson. At the age of twenty three he had already written and published 5 collections of poems and one novel. He decided to study film and enrolled to the Swedish Drama Institute. During his studies he directed three short films and his first feature film, naturalist drama Fucking Amal (1998) attracted international attention. Afterwards he directed the successful drama Together (Tillsammans, 2000). His most socially-engaged films include Ljilja Forever (Ljilja 4-ever, 2002) and A Hole in My Heart (Ett hĺl i mitt hjärta, 2004) in which he deals with the topic of sexual abuse. He described his film Container (2006) as a black and white silent film with sound. He directed his love drama Mammoth (2009) in English and it features Gael García Bernal and Michelle Williams in leading roles. His last film is the high-school musical drama We Are the Best! (Vi är bäst!, 2013), based on the comic book by his wife Coco Moodysson.
