Danijel Marušić

Director and screenwriter of Romanian-Macedonian origin. He started his film career in 1970s and one of his most famous films is the drama The Moromete Family (Morometii) (1988). Prior to that, he made the films The Green Grass of Home (Iarba verde de acasa) (1978), The Carpathian Castle (Castelul din Carpati, 1981) and The Bear's Eyes (Ochi de urs) (1983). Becoming a civil society activist in 1989, he filmed a noticed documentary Piata Universitatii - Romania (1991) about the protest held by students and citizens against the neo-communist government which appeared after the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was overthrown. After that he filmed feature films Fox Hunter (Vulpe - vânator) (1993) and State of Things (Stare de fapt) (1996). Lately he made Weekend with my Mother (Weekend cu mama) (2009.) dealing with the issue of drugs and parental responsibility. The film turned out to be a commercial failure. His currently last film is I'm an Old Communist Hag (Sunt o baba comunista) (2013).
