Yuji Nakae is a Japanese director and screenwriter birn in Kyoto in 1960. After enrolling in the Ryukyu University he moved to Okinawa and began shooting 8mm films. Upon graduation, he founded the
Panali Pictures production house and produced 8 mm films. In 1992, he directed the segment of a feature omnibus
Pineapple Tours. Afterwards, he directed and wrote the screenplay for
Nabbie no koi (1999) and then
Hoteru haibisukasu (Hotel Hibiscus, 2002),
Koishikute (2007) and
Manatsu no yo no yume (2009), an adaptation of Shakespeare’s
A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
