Piekorz studied film directing at the department of television and radio at Silesia University in Katowice. She wrote screenplays and directed many documentaries such as Dziewczyny z Szymanowa (The Girls from Szymanów, 1997), Franciszkanski spontan (Franciscan Spontaneity, 1998), Przybysze (Visitors, 1999), Znalezc, zobaczyc, pochowac (To find, to look, to bury, 2001) that deals with the topic of lost people in Bosnian war, Labirynt (Labyrinth, 2001) and Chicago (2002), a documentary series of 25 episodes. Her only feature film is Pregi (The Welts, 2004) and it won the Golden Lion at the Polish Film Festival in 2004.

Synopsis:

Wojciech Winkler did not have a happy childhood. His mother died when he was a child and was raised by his father, a religious, authoritative sadist who beat and insulted him all the time. Now, a grown man, Wojciech finally has to come to terms with his past in order to have a better future. The film won the Golden Lion in Cannes in 2004 and the audience’s award at the Polish film festival.
