Quarejeta is a Spanish director and screenwriter who grew up surrounded by film as her father was the famous film producer Elías Querejeta. At first she studied history at the University of Madrid and was a dancer. Some of her first experiences on film were as an actress in the film Las palabras de Max (1978) and as assistant director to director Carlos Saura on his film Dulces horas (1982). In late 1980’s she began directing her own short films and writing screenplays. She directed several TV documentaries as well. Her first feature film was Una estación de paso from 1992. Afterwards, she directed the adaptation of a novel entitled El último viaje de Robert Rylands (1996) and the drama By My Side Again (Cuando vuelvas a mi lado, 1999). In 1999 and 2000, she directed many episodes of a TV series and then took part in the film omnibus ¡Hay motivo! (2004). In that same year she directed the drama Héctor (2004) and then Seven Billiard Tables (Siete mesas de billar francés, 2007). Recurring topics in many of her films are family and family problems. After several more series and the short film Fracaso escolar (2012), she directed the feature film 15 Years and One Day (15 años y un día, 2013). Her last film is the drama Happy 140 (Felices 140, 2015).

Synopsis:

After his father’s death, fourteen-year-old Jon goes through a period of typical teenage pranks and gets thrown out of school because of them. His mother Margo cannot deal with him and after he poisons a neighbor’s dog, she gets fed up and sends him to his grandfather in hope he could discipline him.
