Glumac, redatelj i scenarist. Prvi film Niji (Rainbow) režirao je 1988. godine, a iduće, kratkometražne filmove, snima tek od sredine devedesetih. U to vrijeme počinje raditi i kao glumac pojavivši se do danas u četrdesetak naslova. Drugi dugometražni film Parco Fiction režira i piše s Shinobuom Yaguchijem 2002. godine. Sudjeluje u horor omnibusu nekolicine redatelja Kowai onna (Unholy Women, 2006.), a slijede drama Watashi wa neko sutôkâ (I am a Cat Stalker, 2009.), drama temeljena na stvarnoj priči Gegege no nyôbô (The Wife of Gegege, 2010.), tinejdžerska drama Gakutai no usagi (A Band Rabbit and the Boy, 2013.) i znanstvenofantastična komedija Jogingu wataridori (2016.).

Synopsis:

Shy and introverted Katsuhisa spends as much time as it is necessary in school, and afterwards hurries home. One day he runs into a mysterious rabbit and decides to follow him to the part of the school where a musical band has its practice. Enthralled with all the instruments that he saw, Katsuhisa decides to join the band and from then on stays in school every day to practice.
