Tomm Moore

He is a director, screenwriter, animator, producer of animated films and an illustrator. He showed an interest for film and animation in his teenage years when he joined a local film club. After graduating from high-school, he learned animation at a college in Dublin. In 1998, at the end of his school, the founded the animation studio Cartoon Saloon together with Paul Young and Nora Twomey. Together they created the TV series Skunk Fu!, and Moore directed his first hand-animated film Secret of Kells (2009) with Nora Twomey. The film was very successful at many film festivals and was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 in the category Best Feature Animated Film. In 2009, at Animafest in Zagreb it won a special recognition. Moore took part in an animated omnibus of several directors The Prophet (2014) and afterwards directed his second feature animated film Song of The Sea (2014), which was even more popular than Secret of Kells. It won an award as best film at the Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTAs) in 2015 and the award for best feature animated film at the European Film Awards in the same year. He wrote the screenplay for the animated TV series Puffin Rock (2015) and published two novels in Irish language and a comic book Secret of Kells, based on his film.
