Vieira (born in 1969.) studied film in Madrid and returned to Portugal at the age of 23 in order to write and direct his first film,
Sjena lešinara (A Sombra dos abutres, 1998). His next film,
Zona J (1998), a story about love and racism, was a huge success at the theatres. For television he directed two series,
Ballet Rose - Vidas Proibidas (1998) and
Segredo (2005) and the film
Mustang (2000). His last three feature films are the action comedy
A Bomba (2001), romantic drama
A Selva (2002) and action thriller
UmTiro no Escuro (2005).
