Andrés Wood

 

Director
Wood is a Chilean director, screenwriter and producer. He studied economics at the Chilean University from 1984 to 1988 and afterwards moved to New York to study film. Upon his return to Chile he made his first feature film Historias de fútbol (1997) and afterwards El desquite (1999), La fiebre del loco (2001) and his most famous film up to now Machuca (2004).

Synopsis:

Father McEnroe, head of a catholic school of St. Patric in Chile, decides to do a small sociological experiment and puts boys from different social strata in the same class. Soon the poor Pedro Machuca and rich Gonzalo Infante become great friends. Their friendship and coming of age will ultimately be affected by political and social events; the year is 1973 and a military coup is on the horizon…
