Madrid, Christmas Eve of 1995. Millions of carefree inhabitants are preparing to enjoy their Christmas celebration with family. The atmosphere is one of complete bliss, the town shines in decorations, and faces are filled with joy. Priest Angel Berriartua, professor of theology on the Deusto university, spent twenty years researching the Apocalypse according to St John and trying to decipher the message hidden in the ancient text. Finally he concludes that the Antichrist will be born on December 25, 1995 before dawn. What he doesn’t know is where this will take place. In order to contact the evil, armed to the teeth he sets off to fight it more with help of improvisation and criminal than with sacredness…The film El día de la bestia won many awards – seven "Goyas", the most important Spanish award for film, among other those for best director.
