It tackles such themes as the invention of film media, the first use of sound, and the domination of world cinema by Hollywood, France and Italy… This unique experiment is an original and highly personal history of film. When I was a kid, they told me: “Don’t tell stories!” Later, in films, they told me: “You have to tell stories!” That is why now, with Histoire(s) du cinéma, I found a way to tell stories in my own way.(Jean-Luc Godard)
