Synopsis:

This is the film adaptation of the novel by Ivo Andrić with the same title. The protagonist is Rajka Radaković, an old maid whose life is governed by love for money and fear of its loss. Over time, because of her obsession with money she neglects all basic human values and becomes a prisoner of her own compulsion.
