This is the first drama by Woody Allen after a series of comedies that he directed in the 1970’s. It is a story of three sisters who try to cope with their parents Arthur and Eve’s sudden divorce. Renata is a poet whose husband, writer Frederik, has trouble coping with her success. Flyn is a vain actress who stars in bad films that people ridicule. Joey is married to Mike but she is unhappy with her job in advertising.
