An ambitious young man, Bastien, works as assistant to Philippe Letzger, the arrogant host of the most popular show on French television. Bastien warms up the audience and fulfills Letzger’s orders, even though he knows he is capable of much more than his boss is. However, Bastien puts up with it all, in order to be able to work with his idol, the genial producer Jean-Louis Broustal.
