Synopsis:
Jean-Louis is an engineer and devout Catholic who regularly goes to church. There he notices the blond Françoise whom he decides to marry but is afraid to approach. With his friend, Marxist Vidal, he visits Maude, an attractive divorced mother. The three of them spend the night discussing philosophy and faith. Vidal leaves and Jean-Louis remains at Maude’s. The events of rest of the night at Maude’s make Jean-Louis question his principles.
