Synopsis:
Perdita Durango is a girl from the Mexican-American border. Traumatized by
the brutal murder of her sister in her childhood, she is forced to earn for her
living using extreme means. One day she meets Romeo Dolorosa, a bank robber and
a murderer. His personality is supplemented also by the use of Caribbean black
magic rituals - Santeria. Romeo is convinced that he is the Gods’ pet.
Such strong self confidence attracts Perdita to his embrace. And while Romeo
does not care for the police too much, he is much more preoccupied with the
threats of the gangster boss to whom he owns money. To pay off his debt he
accepts an offer by the Mexican-American boss Santos to drive a truck full of
fetuses, which will later be processed for cosmetic industry, across the border.
Before they finish the job, Romeo and Perdita decide to have a little fun – they
kidnap a young and innocent couple of American teenagers, Duane and Estelle. And
while the teenagers endure many tortures and rapes, Romeo is threatened by the
fanatic federal agent Dumas... This cult film by de la Iglesia received many awards on film festivals.
