Synopsis:

October 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau. Saul Ausländer is a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommand, unit of Jewish prisoners isolated from the rest of the camp, who are in charge of taking the prisoners to the gas chambers and burning the corpses. While working in one of the crematoriums, Saul comes across a body of a boy and he is convinced that it is his son. This causes him to wake up from his state of numbness and decides to secretly prepare a proper Jewish burial for his son…
