Synopsis:
The story begins during WW I when a young married couple, Elizabeth and John, get separated by the turmoil of war. Waiting for her husband to come back, Elizabeth works as a librarian in a local company. She is pregnant when she learns that her husband died. She is devastated and without any plans for her future. The owner of the company she works for, Lawrence Hamilton helps her out and they soon marry. They raise John’s son as their own and make a happy family. Twenty years later they meet an Austrian Erik Kessler and his protégé Margaret.
