Synopsis:
In his youth, Rafael lost a testicle in a work accident. He leads a quiet and lonely life. One morning he stops his truck to help Marina, a girl who has been beat up by her boyfriend, Daniel. She is pregnant, and even though Daniel wants her to have an abortion, Marina decides to keep the baby at any cost. When Rafael finds out that Daniel is in prison, he offers to take care of Marina and her baby. She accepts but warns Rafael that when Daniel comes back from prison he might hurt Rafael. In 1997, this film won the Goya award for Best Director, Main Actor (A. Resines), Screenplay, and Music. In Cannes, it won the special award of the Ecumenical Jury.
