Synopsis:
This is Bergman’s second film in English. The story takes place in Berlin in the early 1920s. After a long period of depression Manuela’s husband commits suicide. So Manuela and her husband’s brother, Abel Rosenberg, vegetate in the post-war Berlin. By coincidence, they learn about inhumane experiments in professor Vergerus’ clinic.
