Synopsis:

We follow a diverse film crew on the set of the melodrama Je Vous Présente Paméla. Here are the former diva Séverine who drinks too much and forgets her lines, legendary film lover Alexandre who keeps running off to the airport in expectation of a certain young man, jealous French actor Alphonse who hires a woman he is in love with, British actress Julie who is recovering from a nervous breakdown and many others… In 1974, the film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film....

Synopsis:

Jacques is a fifty year old man getting out of prison after serving a five year sentence. He visits his friends Francis and Didier in the working class part of Montmarte. Francis still lives with her mother and is interested in acting and Didier is a small time crook with a passion for gambling even though his wife is expecting a baby. Marcel, his former gangster boss is offering a new job to Jacques but he does not want to continue living as a criminal.

Nina is a young girl who comes to Paris from the provinces and wants to become an actress. She is in love with Quentin, self-destructive and egocentric actor who soon dies in an accident. His former mentor, theatre director Scrutzler offers her a job in the production of Romeo and Juliette. She is to play Juliette, the same role that his recently deceased daughter was playing. In 1985, the film won an award for Best Director in Cannes.
