John McTiernan is one of the most successful Hollywood action movie directors. He made his directing debut with the esteemed film Nomads (1986). Afterwards, he made many great films, including Predator (1987), Die Hard (1988), and The Hunt for Red October (1989). In 1992, he made the film Medicine Man, which was not as successful as his previous works. However, he regained his status with films such as Last Action Hero (1993) and Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995). After these, he made The 13th Warrior (1999) and the acclaimed Thomas Crown Affair (1999). In 2002, he made Rollerball, which was a massive failure. He recently confirmed his stagnation with the film Basic (2003). Besides directing, he is also a producer.
