Furtado is a Brazilian screenwriter and director, who began his film career in the mid 1980’s directing many short films such as Ilha das Flores (1990), which won the Silver Bear for short film at the Berlin Film Festival. From mid 1990’s he has been directing TV series and films and he made his feature film debut with Uma Vez Dois Houve Verões in 2002. Afterwards he directed the comedies O Homem Que Copiava (2003), Meu Tio Matou um Cara (2004) and Saneamento Basic, O Filme (2007), after which he again directed TV series.

Synopsis:

Residents of a small village in southern Brazil need to build a gutter. Marina, a local merchant, decides to start building it, but learns from the local council that there is no money for the project. However, there is a fund for shooting a short feature film.
