Director
Rosales is a director, producer and screenwriter born in 1970 in Spain. He studied film in Havana, Cuba at the International School for Film and Television (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión - EICTV). After three years of studying in Cuba, he left for Australia to study at the Australian Film Television and Radio School – AFTRS in Sydney. He made several short films and made his feature film debut with The Hours of the Day (Las horas del día) in 2003. His next feature film Solitary Fragments (La soledad, 2007) won the Goya Award for Best Film, Director and New Actor (José Luis Torrijo). Tiro en la cabeza (2008) is his latest film.

Synopsis:

Using the creative solution of dividing the screen into two parts (so-called split screen), the director portrays two single mothers in their everyday fight to enable their children to have a better life. Recently divorced Adela is the young mother of a one-year-old boy who starts a new life by moving from a small town in north Spain to Madrid. She finds a job and moves in with Carlos and Inés. Antonia is Inés’ mother, a widow who tries to find her place in the lives of her three grown-up daught...
