Synopsis:

This is the feature film debut by Larisa Yefimovna Shepitko that she made immediately after graduating from the Russian Institute for Cinematography. The protagonist of the film is Nadezhda Petrukhina, famous war pilot from WW II who ties to endure the boring everyday life after the war. She works as a headmistress of a school and is well-respected but for some reason she is unhappy and dissatisfied.
