Mysterious Albert Vogler, a magician and spiritualist, and his troupe, Vogler's Magnetic Health Theatre, arrive in a small town to make a spectacular show. However, the prominent members of the town council – a sceptical doctor and chief of police – ask that Vogler first performs in front of them, intending to prove that his magic is a fraud.
